Department of Gujarati

The Department of Gujarati at L. D. Arts College is committed to nurturing a deep engagement with Gujarati language and literature while fostering critical, creative, and cultural sensibilities among students. The department serves as a vibrant space for exploring the richness of Gujarati literary traditions ranging from classical to modern and contemporary writings.

The curriculum is thoughtfully designed to introduce students to diverse literary forms such as poetry, short stories, prose, and critical writings. It enables learners to understand literary evolution, stylistic developments, and socio-cultural contexts shaping Gujarati literature. Alongside textual study, emphasis is laid on language skills, expression, interpretation, and analytical thinking.

The department also encourages appreciation of eminent Gujarati writers and their contributions, helping students connect literary texts with lived realities and ethical values. It aims to cultivate linguistic proficiency, aesthetic appreciation, and intellectual independence.

Through a balanced integration of academic study and skill-oriented learning, the department prepares students for higher studies, competitive examinations, and careers in teaching, writing, publishing, and cultural fields.
