The Department of Hindi at L. D. Arts College has a long-standing academic presence and has contributed significantly to the study and promotion of Hindi language and literature. Established with the objective of strengthening linguistic competence and literary awareness, the department has consistently worked towards the intellectual and cultural development of its students.

The department is rooted in a rich academic tradition that values Hindi as a medium of expression, cultural continuity, and critical inquiry. It seeks to acquaint students with the diverse forms of Hindi literature while also enabling them to engage meaningfully with contemporary social and communicative contexts.

The curriculum is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of Hindi literature through the study of poetry, drama, fiction, and literary criticism. Courses such as Hindi Natak, Katha evam Upanyas and Adhunik Hindi Sahitya ka Itihas introduce students to major literary traditions and their historical development. At the same time, the inclusion of Hindi Patrakarita evam Jansanchar Lekhan and Prayojanmoolak Hindi reflects the department’s emphasis on applied and functional aspects of the language.

Special attention is given to areas such as media writing, advertisement writing, blog writing, and internet-based communication. These components enable students to understand the changing forms of language use in contemporary society and prepare them for professional domains related to communication, journalism, and content development.

The department also emphasizes clarity of expression, critical thinking, and creative engagement.
